St. Thomas Aquinas WR Robinson stressing patience

- By Franco Panizo

St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Chance Robinson has more recruiting offers than he can remember off the top of his head, but he is no hurry to sift through them to make a decision.

Robinson is weeks away from starting his junior season with the Raiders, and one thing he will be juggling in addition to the team’s games is his recruitment process. The 6-foot-1 player already has several offers, but is is being patient before picking his college.

“It is good. I have been talking to some coaches, just really been taking my time with it,” Robinson said. “I am going into my junior year, so it is starting to get a little bit more serious because when you go to the next level that is a big decision. It has really been going smooth. There is no rush at all.”

While Robinson is being patient with recruiting, he cannot wait to get this upcoming season going. The pass-catcher, a four-star prospect per 247Sports’ composite rankings, helped St. Thomas Aquinas win its third consecutive state championship last year, and he is aiming to build on that.

“I am really eager,” Robinson said. “I have been working hard [starting] at 6 o’clock in the morning, just working, lifting, running, everything. I am eager to show everyone how hard I have been working. The first game is on ESPN, so I am ready.”

As part of his preparation, Robinson took part in the University of Miami’s Legends Camp this past weekend. He was part of a few hundred local high school players that ran through drills with some Hurricane greats for a few hours on Saturday morning, working primarily on improving technique.

Robinson is looking to apply some of the lessons learned there into his season with the Raiders, which starts on Aug. 27 in a nationally-televised game against Pennsylvania team St. Joe’s.

“I thought it was good, got good work in, talked to coaches, talked to coach [Josh] Gattis and [David] Cooney ,” said Robinson of the Legends Camp. “It was a good experience. It is always good to get work.”
