Dillard safety Jackson not done exploring his options

- By Franco Panizo

Dillard junior safety Antione Jackson pledged to Georgia earlier this year, but that has not stopped him from being open to other options.

Jackson pledged to the Bulldogs in March but still might consider the plethora of offers he has received. The defensive back, who is listed at 6 feet, has around 29 programs interested in him, including Auburn and Notre Dame, and is not closing the door on them just yet.

“I am set, but I would not say it is just completely over,” said Jackson, who was a South Florida Sun Sentinel All-County firstteam selection last year.

“I still have got two years left, so whoever pushes the hardest, whoever shows me they really want me, that is where I will be.”

Preparing for his junior season with the Panthers, Jackson recently took part in the University of Miami’s Legends Camp.

There, he was one of several hundred local high school players to go through drills with esteemed former Hurricanes players as coaches.

“They just taught me basically technique,” Jackson said. “Not false-stepping, coming in and out of my breaks, looking back for the ball, and a lot of stuff like that.”

“The overall event was very fun. It was a great experience, especially coming to perform in front of this staff.”

Jackson will aim to to add those learned technical elements to his game as soon as in a few weeks, as he attempts to help Dillard build on the 10-2 season it produced in 2021.

“I incorporate everything. I take [in] everything,” Jackson said.

“[The Hurricanes coaches] made it to where I want to get to. I just take everything they told me [and use it].”
