Sun Sentinel Palm Beach Edition
’Tis the season for soup!
Try chef creations at Empty Bowls event
What: The tagline is: Eat simply, so others may simply eat.
The seventh annual Empty Bowls Delray Beach foodie fundraiser asks guests to eat a simple supper of water, bread and soup. Of course, this being dining destination Delray Beach, the soup is not out-of-a-can. We’re talking stews, gumbos, broths, bisques, chowders, consommés, goulashes, potages — and maybe a borscht or two — from 35 local chefs.
Some participating restaurants serving up this fare include Abe & Louie’s, Artistic Artichoke, Avalon Steak & Seafood, Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market, Burt & Max’s, Caffe Luna Rosa, The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club, Deck 84, Delray Sands Resort, Lucille’s Bad to the Bone BBQ, Max’s Grille, Mussel Beach, Over the Bridge Café, Riggins Crabhouse, Sandwich Man Pizza Too, Silver Sac Catering, Tramonti, V & S Deli, Wine Room Kitchen & Bar and Woodfield Country Club.
The event benefits the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB), and servers will be local community leaders.
“This event is right on the cusp of the holidays, and this is the time for residents to come out and support their neighbors who need hope in the new year,” says food bank CEO Jamie Kendall. “Every ticket purchased helps an individual or family put a holiday meal on the table, or simply provides them with the everyday nutritional basics they need in the household.”
