Dolphins ponder injury list

Report updates status of Hill, Armstead, Wilson, others

- By David Furones

The Miami Dolphins didn’t practice Tuesday, but they released a league-mandated injury report ahead of their Saturday night game as an estimation of what player participation would have looked like had the team practiced.

Neither running back Jeff Wilson Jr. nor safety Eric Rowe, after each left Sunday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers with hip and hamstring injuries, respectively, would have practiced Tuesday.

“It is day-to-day,” coach Mike McDaniel said Monday about Wilson.

“Still accumulating information, but so far it was more positive than the worst-case scenario could have been.”

McDaniel called Rowe’s situation “up in the air, day-to-day type stuff that will take a couple more days to figure out.”

Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead now has a new knee ailment among body parts affected in his injury listing. He returned from a left pectoral injury to play against the Chargers and also has his toe issue that dates back to the start of the season. Armstead would not have practiced Tuesday, according to the injury report.

Safety Elijah Campbell has a concussion, the report said. The Saturday game would present a quick turnaround for him to clear protocol for Saturday night at Buffalo (10-3) after he played 25 defensive snaps in place of Rowe against the Chargers.

Also listed as non-participants on Tuesday for the Dolphins (8-5) were wide receiver River Cracraft (calf ) and outside linebacker Melvin Ingram (veteran rest).

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill would’ve been limited on Tuesday after hurting his ankle at Los Angeles but returning to the game, even scoring his 60-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

On Monday, McDaniel labeled Hill’s ankle issue as “bumps and bruises that he’s going to be able to work through.”

Cornerback Kader Kohou, who already had a thumb injury, now also is listed for a neck ailment. He, tight end Durham Smythe (quadriceps/knee), quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (knee) and defensive tackle Justin Zimmer (back) all would have been limited Tuesday.

Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is no longer on the injury report for his ankle ailment.

For the Bills, linebacker Matt Milano (knee), defensive tackle Jordan Phiillips (shoulder) and guard Ryan Bates (ankle) were labled non-participants for a Tuesday walkthrough. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver (pectoral) and fullback Reggie Gilliam (ankle) were limited. Quarterback Josh Allen has a right elbow injury, but it is not limiting his practice workload.

The first injury report of the week was released on Tuesday instead of Wednesday with everything accelerated by a day this week ahead of the Saturday night game.
