Hill won’t face NFL discipline
WR cleared of charges in June marina incident
The Miami Dolphins will have star wide receiver Tyreek Hill eligible to play when the team kicks off the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 10.
Hill will not face discipline from the NFL for allegedly assaulting a marina employee, a league spokesperson told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Thursday.
The decision comes as Hill has not been seen at the Dolphins’ past two practices for what the team has called an excused absence. Hill, on July 26, was already cleared of any criminal charges stemming from the June 18 incident at the Bill Bird Marina at Haulover Park.
He last addressed it that same day, following the first practice of Dolphins training camp ahead of the 2023 season.
“When I’m able to come here and play ball, I get a chance to get away from all of that at the end of the day. That’s the thing about football,” Hill said then. “God has blessed me to be able to perform and do what I do, and I’m blessed and grateful for that. I just can’t make boneheaded mistakes like that.”
Miami-Dade Police incident reports obtained by the Sun Sentinel through public records requests described Hill arguing with a boat captain and allegedly slapping the marina employee on the back of his neck, then offering the man $200 afterward. Hill’s attorney, Julius Collins, later told the Sun Sentinel that Hill and the marina employee had “resolved their differences.”
Hill, who has been a Pro Bowl selection in all seven of his NFL seasons, is entering his second season with the Dolphins. In 2022, he went for a franchise record 119 receptions for 1,710 yards.
