SMA Board announces APPLAUSE Series 2020-2021
Richard Smola, Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium Board President, announces the upcoming season for the APPLAUSE SERIES 2020-2021. There will be four concerts on stage including Western Heritage with Moe Bandy and Band; Christmas Special with guest artists Samuel Cook, tenor, Rick Piersall, bassbaritone, and Southwestern String Quartet; Lift Every Voice with guest artist Devlon Jones, gospel singer; Musica Latina with guest artists Jesus Daniel Hernandez and Geraldo Pollo-Ramos, tenors and Eric Andries, pianist. Piersall, Jones, Hernandez, and Andries are all back by popular demand. Piersall sang on the opening APPLAUSE concert in October 2014.
In addition to the four concerts, APPLAUSE will present six art shows at the Tom and Jo Henderson Gallery, at 201 4th, which the SMA Board renovated from the former police department. The art shows include 4 in conjunction with the concerts: Western Heritage featuring paintings by Tom Fuller in November; Student Art Show in December; Lift Every Voice presenting art by black artists in February; Musica Latina presenting works by Joey Martinez in May. (continued from Page 1) APPLAUSE Series memberships may be purchased by Pay Pal through www.sweetwaterauditorium.org or by requesting a brochure via swtxauditorium@gmail.com. Currently there are over 80 memberships paid. Limited seating will be available this year due to health and safety procedures. Every other row will be closed, and guests will be asked to leave 2 seats between groups. Additional sanitizing will be provided, with hand sanitizer stations. Masks are requested in the smaller spaces of the lobby and art gallery. Live streaming will be available for APPLAUSE members who are not able to attend in person. Virtual art tours will also be provided. Membership levels are at the $120, $250, $500, and $1000 levels. Opening night art shows are opened only to members. Members two tickets to each concert and art passes to each art show. Concert Tickets at the door for non- members will be $20 each. Art Show passes for non-members will be $5 each.
