BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH They’re Playing My Song!

As most of you know, I spent about 10 years in radio way back when. It was a fun time of life, and an easy way to make a few bucks (because you all know I love to talk!). Being on the radio came pretty natural once I learned how to work the board and cue up the records. I still have many great memories of the old radio days.

Being on the radio was an extension of something I already loved. I have loved music my whole life. I remember singing in church when I was about four years old. I think I sang, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” Then, as I got older, I remember my first “Transistor Radio.” Pop hits from the 70’s off of KLIF in Dallas became my favorite. When one of my favorite songs came on, I felt like the DJ was playing it just for me. Those were fun days.

For a little while, I was able to host an “all request and dedication” show on the radio. People would call in and I would get to play what they wanted to hear. Being able to play someone’s favorite song put me on the other side of the radio which was also very special. I loved fulfilling those requests.

Through the years, I have developed another love. I have a real love for the Bible. I love reading it every day. I have anticipation for the chapters that lie ahead of me when I open it up every morning. I feel like God is playing “His Greatest Hits” for me when I come up on John’s gospel, or Proverbs. Then, there are the forgotten hits of Amos and Jude. Then, there are the old familiar favorites of Acts and Psalms. Each day I hear God’s voice singing through His word in my ears.

I urge you to “listen in” to what He has to say to you. Open up your Bible every day and read. Hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to you. Make sure you are in a place you can hear what He has to say clearly. Just like when we had to tune away the static on our radios, make sure you’ve cleared the clutter. Then, get ready for the Greatness of God! Don’t forget: God’s playing the hits!

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Anyone who has contempt for his brother or calls him, ‘Fool,’ will be subject to the judgment. “Remind us, Lord Jesus, that you died for those we scorn as much as you died for those we love. “If you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift in front of the altar. Go and be reconciled to your brother, and then offer your gift.” Great God, When we fail to love someone here, we have failed to love you. Give us the courage to set right the wrong we’ve done. Help us to remember if we have committed one sin, the scriptures say we are guilty of them all. Thanks be to God. Amen.

FAITH HARVEST FULL GOSPEL CHURCH 400 Alamo Street Sweetwater

Happy fall from all of us at Faith Harvest Church. The seasons are changing and change can be a good thing, especially if you are changing for the good. Change you say, no way not me.

Most of us don’t like change but change can be good if it is positive steps forward.

Many are stuck in discouraging and dead cycles. I believe that Jesus still wants to rescue everyone out of them.

I can say from my own personal experience that Jesus makes everything new and he also refreshes our souls. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

So if you are stuck in discouraging cycle I would encourage you to cry out to Jesus for help. Ask him to show you new things to do for him. I believe you will feel a new well and a freshness as Jesus beings to make things new in your life. May the love, joy, and peace of God be in your life today and everyday as you learn to trust him more.
