Obituaries
Martha Maye Hanks Bowen passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the home of her nephew, David Rhodes of Midland, Texas. Her beloved husband, Donald J. Bowen, (Brig. Gen., USAF, Ret) her son, Larrylee Duane Gluck, and great grandson, Lukas Duane Gluck, preceded her in death. Also, her parents, Sam and Savannah Hanks, two brothers, Gene Hanks and S.R. (Dick) Hanks, and sister, Dorcas Rhodes, preceded her in death. Martha began her life on the family farm in Nolan (Divide) Texas on March 30, 1929. She worked for the U.S. Government for 29 years; 5 years with the Corps of Engineers in Dallas, Texas, then 24 years with the Defense Communications Agency in Arlington, Virginia, where she retired in 1994. She is survived by grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Gluck, Logan Daniel Gluck, Alexander Joseph Silva, great grandchild, Sophia Gluck, and son, Fernando Silva, all of Port St Lucie, Florida; Karla Torrez and Dennis Moore and Jason Moore of Emerald Isle, North Carolina and Casey (Ben) Detri, of the U.S. Army. Martha also leaves two sisters, Joey Bray and husband Keith of Collier Kansas, and Dody Gibbs of Midland Texas; as well as may beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 24th at 2:00 pm following visitation 12:00 to 2:00 pm. held in Sweetwater Texas at the McCoy Chapel of Memories with Phil Stroud officiating. Burial will be at Slaters Chapel Cemetery in Nolan Texas under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to your favorite charity. Wilburn Dewey Tipton, 87, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 19th, 2023. Funeral services for Wilburn will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Pastor Michael Harbor will be officiating services. There will be a family visitation on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at McCoy Funeral Home.
