Rattlesnak­e Gravel Grind Raising Funds for Five Area Volunteer Fire Department­s, March 24-26

The West Texas Rattlesnak­e Gravel Grind is coming to Sweetwater and Nolan County on March 24-26, 2023 for West Texas Gravel Grind and what is being billed as “One Heck of a Post Race Party”.

Besides all of the cycling gear and uniform, participan­ts are being reminded to ring their boots and jeans.

Only 500 spots available for the Grind and it is first come, first serve.

Interested parties are asked to register soon and reserve their hotel room before they all fill up.

Included for each registered participan­t:

There will be a free breakfast all three days, Free food and drink after each event (One Free Beer Friday and One Free Beer Saturday), and Free evening concert Friday and Saturday Night (BYOB). The 5 Nolan County VFDs (Blackwell, Maryneal, Nolan, Roscoe, and Lake Sweetwater), Penn National Security, AES Wind, AEP Wind, Taylor Electric, Big Country Electric, Clearway Energy, Buzzi Unicem, and the Nolan County Amateur Radio Associatio­n will all have rest stations and provide support for the cyclists during the Rattlesnak­e Gravel Grind.

The Sheriffs Department, Highway Patrol, SWPD, along with TXDOT will also help keep the routes clear and the cyclists safe.

The Sweetwater Jaycees and Roosters will be helping with the event in many ways from rest stops, support for the cyclist, and providing food for them after the event.

Full Rider Support--Sag vehicle support and rest stops every 8-10 miles with portable toilets on all three routes: RGG 110, RGG 60, and RGG 30.

For all participan­ts, there will be discounted Room rates available with the event hotel partners.

Also, there will be discounts for local food and local shopping with RGG wristband.

The Gravel Grind will also present event prizes for those who qualify.

Proceeds from the Rattlesnak­e Gravel Grind benefit the 5 Volunteer Fire Department­s of Nolan County.

In 2022, the Gravel Grind raised $30,000 and attracted riders from CA, NC, VT, AR, NM, OK, and Texas.
