DAN HARDY POPE
Dan Hardy Pope, 98, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. He was born June 5, 1924 in Roby, Texas to Jim and Lessie (Mayberry) Pope of McCaulley, Texas. He was one of 10 children and the oldest boy. He served in the U. S. Navy. Dan married Carlee Hall in October of 1945 and resided in Hamlin, Texas until 1966, when his job required a move to Sweetwater. He had the same job with an oil company and retired after 30 years with Exxon Mobil. Dan was preceded in death by his brothers; Ray, John Turner and Joe Pope, his sisters; Lois, Wauldean, Juanita, Burton and Imogene and sister-in-law Delroy Pope, his son; Danny Wayne Pope, grandson; Danny Wayne Pope, Jr. and his wife; Carlee Pope. Dan is survived by his daughter; Patricia Duke and Gene of Abilene, Texas, sister; Jane Morris and Roy of Abilene, grandson; Daniel Jones of Abilene, great-grandson; Waylon Pope and Charlise, great-great grandchildren; Natalie, Annalise, Lucas and Danny, great-grandson; Wesley Pope and Jessica, great-great grandchildren; Calleigh, Karson and Dawson of Sweetwater, Texas and great-granddaughter; Taya Pope of Sweetwater. He is also survived by a Special Friend and caregiver for many years, Christine Butler.

Hospice of the Big Country for their help in the last days. He was buried at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy
