March 30, 1959 - December 31,2023 On December 31, 2023, Connie Sue Cross Simon, a faithful woman who loved the Lord, passed away peacefully at the age of 64 in Midland, Texas. She was born on March 30th, 1959, in Midland, Texas to W.A. and Faye Cross who have both predeceased her in life. Connie was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her greatest love was family. She cared deeply for her family and friends as this was at the core of who she was. She also enjoyed the life of farming and ranching with her family. Connie is survived by her five children, Bobbie Cupell, Becca Scott, James (Jim) Scott, Sarah Furtado, and William (Will) Scott and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, January 8th, 2024, at Willowbrook Funeral Home, 1311 W. Florida Ave., Midland, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, at Stonegate Fellowship in Building “F”, 6000 W. Wadley Ave., Midland, TX with Russ Hale officiating. Mary Luisa Hermosillo Bugarin, 82, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (Holy Spirit Parish) with Father Josh Gray officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home. There will be a Rosary on Monday, January 8, 2024 starting at 6:30 P.M. at McCoy Chapel of Memories. A Family visitation will follow the Rosary. Maria was born November 18, 1941 in Loraine, Texas to Andres and Lupe (Martinez) Hermosillo. She married Santiago Bugarin, Sr. in Colorado City, TX in 1955. Maria lived in Loraine and Sweetwater all her life. She was a homemaker and loved raising her children, seeing them grow and bringing in grandchildren. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She is survived by eight daughters, Irma Beserra, Yolando Vallejo, Mary Garcia, Yvonne Bugarin, Raquel Bugarin, Veronica Gamez, Beatris Romero, Christina Mendoza, three sons, Rual Bugarin, Pedro Bugarin, Stevan Bugarin. She was also survived by three brothers, Jesus Hermosillo, Benjamen Hermosillo, Felipe Hermosillo, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Bugarin, Sr. March 24, 2011, three sons, Juan (Johnny) Bugarin in 1974, Santiago Bugarin, Jr. in 1995, Lucas Bugarin in 2022, a daughter, Silvia Garcia in 2021, and her parents, Andres and Lupe (Martinez) Hermosillo. Michael William “Red” Hurd, 68, passed away in his home on December 30, 2023. His wishes were to be cremated & have a memorial service for all to share their stories they made together. This will be held January 13th, at the Jaycee Barn at 3pm. Born in Abilene Tx, March 27th 1955, to Mary Lou Pruitt & Arthur Hurd, he grew up living in Abilene & Sweetwater the majority of his life. Preceding him in death was his mother, Mary Lou Pruitt Vibbard, step father, that was more of a dad to him that his biological father, L.J. Vibbard, and his wife Marselle Lyons Hurd in 2008.He is survived by his Older sister Dorris Simpson of Pennsylvania, Younger sister Barbara Clayton of Clyde Tx, his Son Michael W “Red” Hurd II & Wife Carla of Sweetwater Tx, His daughter Michelle Hurd Coe of Sweetwater Tx. 6 Grandchildren, Nicolas, Lilith, Mason Hurd of Sweetwater Tx, & Hudson, Axel, Steel Coe of Sweetwater Tx. Along with many nieces & nephews & there kids. Also Albert Rodriquez of Sweetwater Tx, to whom he adopted later as a son.Michael W “Red” Hurd was a member of the Sweetwater Jaycees since the 80’s, loved riding his multiple Harleys, and always was there to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and got the opportunity to call him Brother, Father, Grandpa or Pa-kaw (as the grand babies called him) and even Pops. Boyce Bowden Holley, age 87, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at his daughter’s residence.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. to service time.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor J.T. Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Weatherford, Texas.
Raymond “Ramon” Lee Stith, age 76, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
His wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned at this time.

Charles “Chuck” Howard McDorman, 68 of Sweetwater, TX joined his Heavenly Father along with his parents, Don & Wilma McDorman and Son In Law, NicholasWilliams on January 3, 2024 peacefully in his home.
