Guerrero is eager to build on what she calls “the rich history of Sweetwater softball” in recent years. “I expect us to be at the top of the district (5-4A),” she said. “But the teams in this district will make us pay if we mess up, so we’ve got to play smart softball.”

Two seniors, Daniel and Dent, are entering their fourth year as starters and they, along with Castillo, are committed to playing college softball next year. Two other seniors, Weaver and Hanna Vera, have started regularly the past two years and juniors Lauren Biera, Milani Torres, Kaitlin Vera and Alyssa Aguilar started games last year.

Rounding out the team are Marissa Garcia, Phoenix Walker and Lexie Maestas. Garcia, Hanna Vera, Daniel and Biera will all get a late start since they are on the Lady Mustang basketball team that is in the playoffs.
