Track athletes do well at Ballinger

Sweetwater track athletes went to Ballinger’s meet this past Thursday.

The varsity boys had 113 points and the junior varsity boys had 82 at Ballinger in their track division.

The varsity boys winners were Brandon Martinez in the 800 (2:12.87) and 1,600 (5:09.24); Colton Martinez in the 110 hurdles (17.37); Jose Quintero in the long jump (19-7 3/4); the 400 relay (44.87); and 800 relay (1:34.90). The relay runners were Korda Moore, Amare Arevalo, Jose Quintero and Jace Adames. The 1600 relay was second (3:50) with Moore, Quintero, Martinez and Adames as runners.

Colton Martinez was third in the high jump (5-11) and the 300 hurdles (44.02); Hassani Myers was fourth in the discus (114-5); and Alijah Iriarte was sixth in the pole vault (9-6).

Junior varsity boys winners were Joe Salazar in the 300 hurdles (47.43) and the 1600 relay of Caiden Ortiz, Salazar, Darwin Blueford and Ryan Galindo (3:59.68). Placing second were Adrian Davila in the discus (92-8 3/4) and Jaeden Gutierrez in the high jump (5-4).

Getting a third place finish was Tayden Serrano in the 1,600 run (5:30.92) and 800 run (2:23.90); Gutierrez was fourth in the 100 (12.41); and the 400 relay and 800 relay were fourth with times of 48.62 and 1:43.34, respectively, with runners Ortiz, Gilbert Rivera, Blueford and Nick Avila. Placing fifth were Marcus Diaz in the 100 dash (12.49) and Galindo in the 200 dash (25.44).

Toreyna Saddler won the varsity girls shot put (394), with Victoria Grauman placing sixth in the shot and discus and Mallory Gibson sixth in the high jump.

The junior varsity girls scored 94 points with wins by Mackenzie Lambert in the 100 hurdles (20.56) and the 400 relay of Savannah Martinez, Montana McCoy,

Karli Gonzales and Eliyan Vera. Vera was second in the 100 dash (14.24); Kieran Sisk was second in the 300 hurdles (1:11.28) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (23.49); Kamdyn McKay was second in the discus (82-8) and third in the shot (25-11); Jasslin Quintana was third in the long jump and tied Lambert for fifth in the pole vault; Braelyn Gaytan was third and Kaidynce Tilley fifth in the high jump; Keeli Ussery was fifth in the 1600 (7:33) and sixth in the 800 (3:07.34); Gaytan, Tilley, Sisk and Martinez ran on the fourth-place 800 relay; and Gonzales placed fifth in the 100 dash (14.82).
