“But the LORD has been my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge” Psalm 94:22

In uncertain times it’s good to be standing on something that’s certain and proven. God is the ROCK that cannot be shaken. Pastor Carter Edmondson Join us this Sunday to find refuge from the storms of this world. Our services are 10:30 AM on Sundays. If you can’t make it to worship with us in person just yet, please tune in to KXOX 96.7. We are also on YouTube at this time for those who can watch the services anytime. We are not meeting on Wednesdays but plans are being made to start meeting then ASAP.On Sundays we have children’s church, Kingdom Kids, meet during the same time as our regular services meet in first in the Fellowship Hall and then in separate age appropriate classes after worshipping Kingdom Kids are for ages 4-12. We also have our nursery open for ages 0-3. We will have hot coffee and donuts ready before Sunday services, so please come early and fellowship with us if you can.

Pastor Carter began a series of sermons titled ‘CONNECT, CULTIVATE, AND CARRY ON’ last Sunday.

John 15:5 - Jesus said, “I AM the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, will bear much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.’”

It really does matter what you’re connected to. #letsabide #letsconnect. OUR REDEEMER LIVES !!!

“One step forward and two steps back,” can you relate? Years ago, the Desert Rose Band sang this song. It became one of my favorites in my early days of radio. Of course, the lyrics are speaking of a rela tionship, but they can certainly apply to us today.

Ever feel as if you’re just not getting anywhere? You might even admit that you’re losing ground. It might be in your health, finances, relationships, or in your spiritual life. Life can certainly be a series of setbacks. Just about the time we think we might be able to come up for a breath, something else drags us right back under.

I imagine our Lord Jesus experienced a bit of this when He walked the earth with us humans. One of the most pointed examples comes in Mark’s gospel, chapters seven and eight. His “One step forward” moments are shown through a powerful expression we can all relate to; Jesus “sighed.” That’s right, Jesus let out a big breath from deep within. We join Him as we go through our “One Step Forward, Two steps back” moments in life.

Jesus’ two sighs are brought about by another physical ailment brought to His attention and another instance of people’s unbelief that He is truly the Savior. With each sigh, we relate to Him, and, He relates to us with each exhausting exhale.

The end of Hebrews chapter 3 comes to mind. It describes how helpful it is for us that Jesus came to this earth in human form to experience what we experience. He experienced many “One Step Forward” moments. As described, each of these moments brought Him great “temptations,” just as we experience. The difference between Jesus as us: He overcame each one. Now, He is able to “help” us overcome our “One Step Forward, Two Steps Back” moments if we will go to Him for help.

So, the next time you get caught up in this vicious dance, remember that Jesus overcame this cycle and is there to help us too!

During Lent we are exploring how God relates to God’s people through covenants, pointing to the cross and Resurrection and the New Covenant.

Men, mark your calendars for a lunch at Whataburger this Thursday at 11:45am! It’s more than just a meal; it’s an opportunity to fellowship and enjoy each other’s company. Remember to come hungry and ready to share some laughs!

No Wednesday activities next week due to Spring Break.

Next week’s office hours will be Monday-Thursday from 9:00-11:00am.

LIFE IS BETTER TOGETHER.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

SSt. Stephen’s Episcopal greets all in the name of our Savior Christ; we are located at 502 Locust St. in Sweetwater. February 25 is the Second Sunday in Lent, a contemplative season of six weeks before Easter when we remember Christ’s journey to the Cross. Leading the liturgy at 11:00 AM will be our vicar, Rev. Bryan Callen, pastor as well for our sister church in Colorado City, All Saints’ Episcopal. The Scripture Readings for the day will be Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Psalm 22:22-30; Romans 4:13-25; and Mark 8:31-38.

For the five weeks of this contemplative season, Fr. Callen leads a Lenten Series with Soup. The second session will meet in St. Stephen’s bishop’s hall this coming Wednesday evening, February 28 at 6:00 PM. In honor of Black History Month, a movie about Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray continues. This is a documentary exploring her life as a scholar, lawyer, civil rights activist, and the first African American woman to be ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church. The following three weeks will be lessons about St. John the Evangelist, held in All Saints’ church hall in Colorado City at 6:00 PM.

The Light came that we might not be condemned to eternal darkness. When we live in the Light we have fellowship with God and each other. For God was in Christ bringing reconciliation to the world. God did not hold our sins against us but gave us the message of love. Let us share that message with the world in our actions, songs and praise. Blessed be the name of the Lord!

Jesus says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen. Revelation 22:20-21

The seasons are changing and change can be a good thing, especially if you are changing for the good. Change you say, no way not me.

Most of us don’t like change but change can be good if it is positive steps forward.

Many are stuck in discouraging and dead cycles. I believe that Jesus still wants to rescue everyone out of them.

I can say from my own personal experience that Jesus makes everything new and he also refreshes our souls. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. So if you are stuck in discouraging cycle I would encourage you to cry out to Jesus for help. Ask him to show you new things to do for him. I believe you will feel a new well and a freshness as Jesus beings to make things new in your life. May the love, joy, and peace of God be in your life today and everyday as you learn to trust him more.
