Willwerth, Titans edge Gators in boys lax thriller 8-7

Boys lacrosse

Algonquin 8, Grafton 7: Garrett Willwerth registered a hat trick, and Ben Yosca’s second goal of the game broke the tie with 3:07 left to lift the host Titans (3-1) over the Gators (1-1). Cameron Michaud (4 goals) and Arlen Jahja (3 goals) led Grafton.

Nashoba 8, Shrewsbury 5: Jack Schartner had six goals and an assist to pace the host Wolves (2-1, 2-0 Mid-wach A) over the Colonials (2-1, 2-1). Nashoba’s Dillon Kelleher (4 assists) and Brennan Kelleher (assist) also scored. Tyler Braranco had a goal and assist to lead Shrewsbury, while teammate Cole Azzarone scored and had two assists.

Tyngsborou­gh 14, Hudson 2: Jake O’Brien (3 assists) and Joey Salerno (2 assists) each scored three goals, and Jack Michaud (4 assists) and Brett Anderson (2 assists) both tallied twice to power the visiting Tigers (2-0). Tyngsborou­gh’s Nicholas Palumbo had 10 saves on 12 shots on goal.

Wachusett 15, Leominster 1: Dan Greaney, Troy Greaney, Greyson Doyle and Seamus Hartnett each scored twice to pace the host Mountainee­rs (2-1). Dom Carr tallied for the Blue Devils (0-5).

Catholic Memorial 9, St. John’s 8: Charlie Carlstrom and Jacob Beaulac each scored twice for the Pioneers (0-3) in a loss at home.

Littleton 14, Lunenburg 6: Zach Milner scored four goals, and Ryan Pittorino and Liam Smith netted three each as the host Tigers improved to 3-2.

Girls lacrosse

Westboroug­h 13, Tahanto 10: Taylor Payne scored four goals, Regan Kittredge netted three, and Elizabeth Litman had 12 saves for the host Rangers (5-1, 5-0 Mid-Wach). Alison Stevens (4 goals, 3 assists) earned her 400th career point and Julia Rubinow added four goals and two assists for the Stags (2-2, 1-2).

Wachusett 15, Leominster 14: Rileigh Leary scored her sixth goal in overtime, and she had four assists as the visiting Mountainee­rs (3-0) outlasted the Blue Devils (2-1). Kaitlyn Head also tallied six for Wachusett, and teammate Meg Jones netted three.

Shrewsbury 13, Nashoba 10: Lauren Albertson and Sophie Ondovic both collected hat tricks as the host Colonials (1-2, 1-2 Mid-Wach A) held off the Wolves (1-3, 0-2). Nica Welch, Caroline Pinto led Nashoba with six goals, and teammates Mia Samarjian and Amelia Dyda each scored twice.

Northbridg­e 20, Hudson 9: Elly Schofer had six goals, while Sienna Mastroiann­i and Madison Thibeault each scored five as the host Rams (3-2) rolled past the Hawks (!-2). Hudson’s Katie Perusse and Layne Thomason each had four goals.

Tantasqua 13, Hopedale 9: Tess Alexander, Taylor Sexton and Abbie Wotton each netted three goals, and Kaydie O’Neil had two goals and two assists for the host Warriors (4-0). Emma Gosselin, Emily Frohn, Molly Gosselin and Mackenzie Viens each scored twice for the Blue Raiders (1-3).

Grafton 15, Algonquin 5: Caity Tyldesley scored seven times, Josie Hamilton notched a hat trick, and Abby Scanlon added two goals to boost the host Gators (2-1). Grace Chiota tallied twice for the Titans (1-2).

Baseball

Northbridg­e 1, Doherty 0: Ryan Miley (2 for 3) lined a two-out double to right field to score Brady Hubert (2 for 3) in the first inning, and Charlie Dupuis fired a three-hitter while striking out six as the Rams (4-0) edged the Highlander­s (2-2) at Foley Stadium. Doherty’s Sam Conrad allowed one run on six hits while striking out seven.

Bartlett 5, Douglas 4: Mason Sebastyans­ki lined a single to center field with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Sebastien Melendez and give the host Indians (1-2) a walk-off win over the Tigers (2-2). Adam Phillips had two hits and drove in a run, and Luigi Villegas singled with two RBIs to lead Bartlett. Ethan Vassar and Evan Wheeler (double) each had two hits for Douglas.

Grafton 10, Blackstone Valley Tech 8: Anthony Parlante had a three-run triple to key a seven-run rally in the seventh inning, Ty Cass was 3 for 5 with two RBIs, and James Tindall struck out 10 over 5-1/3 innings to lift the visiting Gators (3-1) past the Beavers (2-1). Valley Tech’s Corey Magill had three hits and drove in a run, and Alec Vosburgh tripled and knocked in two.

Tahanto 13, Gardner 1: Nick Eck and Jamie McNamara each drove in two runs, and McNamara struck out seven while scattering five hits over five innings to lift the host Stags (2-2).

Ayer-Shirley 11, Murdock 0: Tyler Crawford went 3 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs, and James Gauntlett allowed three hits and struck out eight over five innings as the host Panthers (2-1, 2-0 Mid-Wach D) beat the Blue Devils (0-3, 0-2).

Softball

Leominster 4, Nashoba 1: Tori Belcastro struck out 10 and allowed one run on seven hits, while adding a double, triple and RBI to boost the host Blue Devils (2-0) over the Wolves (2-1). Mia Keenan and Ella Beland (RBI) also doubled for Leominster. Grace King and Chloe Hughes.

Blackstone-Millville 14, Southbridg­e 1: Renee Arcand hurled a no-hitter and struck out 12, while also going 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs as the host Chargers (3-2) topped the Pioneers (0-4) in five innings.

Northbridg­e 10, Auburn 5: Mia Pellegrino had three hits, scored twice and struck out six, and Riley Austin had three hits and scored three times as the host Rams (3-1) topped the Rockets (2-1). Abby Belanger singled twice for Auburn.

Douglas 14, Bartlett 0: Mackenna Chiasson (3 for 3, home run, 4 runs, 2 RBIs), Ayla McDermott (3 for 4, 4 runs, RBI) and Emilee Hamelin (3 for 4, home run, double, 5 RBIs) boosted the visiting Tigers (2-2) in five innings. Lexi Phanthavon­g had both hits for the Indians (1-3).

Tahanto 9, Gardner 3: Annah Long (2 runs) and Emma Vaillette (run, RBI) each had two hits, and Abby Bidinger struck out eight and allowed one hit over four innings as the host Stags (3-1, 2-1 MidWach D) topped the Wildcats (0-3, 0-2). Emma McNamara was 3 for 4 with a double to lead Gardner, and Olivia Wentworth added two hits and drove in a run.

Blackstone Valley Tech 18, Grafton 6: Brooke Gniadek went 3 for 4 with four runs, and Andreanna DiStefano added a triple and a single to pace the host Beavers (2-0) past the Gators (1-3). Ashley Donaldson led Grafton with two walks and a single.

Boys volleyball

Ayer-Shirley 3, Nashoba 1: David Batchelor had 12 kills and 18 assists, and Harrison Tu added five kills and an ace to lift the visiting Panthers (3-4, 1-3 MidWach B) past the Wolves (0-5, 0-3). Set scores were 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 26-24.

BC High 3, St. John’s 0: Junior outside hitter Francis McGonagle (17 digs, 14 kills, 2 aces, block), senior middle hitter Eric Barcelos (9 kills, 2 aces) and junior libero Aarav Patel (12 digs) paced the visiting Pioneers (1-3, 1-2 CC) in a loss to the Eagles. Set scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-22.

Marlboroug­h 3, Wachusett 1: Nick Andrade had 16 kills and Calebe Pereira recorded 44 assists to help the visiting Panthers (5-1, 3-1 Mid-Wach) top the Mountainee­rs (1-2, 1-2). Frank Sclar (10 kills), Soren Haddock (8 kills) and R.J. Dixon (9 assists) led Wachusett. Set scores were 22-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 27-25.
