This week live: Art and music

- By Aaron Brand

That fall feeling is fast upon us, at least at night, but sweet weather and live events are still lined up to provide many ways to enjoy the weekend hours.

Artisans Gallery & Gifts will hold a Park Your Art arts and crafts festival on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Proprietor “D” KaledoMarlatt invites craftspeople and artists alike to bring their work and display it at the 333 E. 9th St. location of this Texarkana art gallery, which opened back in May.

Musicians are also encouraged to come by and perform, “New Orleans style” outside or indoors. If interested, drop by or call the gallery at 870-7742300.

Local artists like Georgia Hubnik, John Garrison and others display their work at Artisans, and a sewing class was held there in August. Some of the current Artisans artists will set up work to display at Saturday’s event.

If you’re itching for live music, there’s much out there to hear, including Ms. Mac & the Groovetones holding court and sharing dance numbers and classic rock tunes tonight and Saturday night at

La Fogata.

Greg Gardner & Voodoo Cowboy roll into Atlanta, Texas, to perform at The Wooden Indian on Saturday night.

Direct from Southeast Oklahoma, Chalkline 259 drives down the highway once again for their regular show at Fat Jack’s tonight, while Texarkana-based Revelry Live performs on Saturday night with the band DownDay.

Saturday also sees Hippy’s Nightlife rock hard with a twoband bill of the all-female hard rock quintet Faded Grace coming to town from Dallas. They’ll play their show with local crew Setacide.

As well, Colt Landon Baker is back in town tonight to play at Lee’s Catfish.
