- —JOSH RICHERT

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m., Hawk Stadium

LAST WEEK: The Bulldogs topped Hooks, 35-8, and the Hawks edged Commerce, 1514.

LAST YEAR: Jefferson beat Pleasant Grove, 34-14, and rushed for 326 yards.

GAME FACTS: It is PG’s Homecoming game. The Bulldogs lead the series, 116. Both of Jefferson’s losses have been by one point (13-12 to New Diana and 21-20 to Paul Pewitt). The Bulldogs have scored 88 points and allowed 56. Both teams graduated at least 15 from last year’s teams. The Hawks rushed for 288 yards last week as they switched back to a wing-t offense.

COACHES’ COMMENTS: Jefferson’s Derek Simmons—“We replaced our entire offensive line, and it’s been a learning process trying to find some consistency. We’ve had four different lineups in four games. Our defense has played well in all four. Pleasant Grove is hard to prepare for because you don’t see that offense very often. We have to be disciplined and stay with our asssignments.

“I didn’t realize Pleasant Grove had changed offenses until I saw the Commerce film. They look more comfortable in what they did Friday, which was what they’ve done for a couple of years. Their quarterback does a good job of

running the offense and making reads, and they have good skill players.”

Pleasant Grove’s Kevin Davis— “We are in the same situation as last year. Jefferson is athletic, big, and physical. They’re two points away from being 4-0. They’re a really good football team.

“We can’t look past Jefferson and can’t turn the ball over and expect to win. We’ve been focusing on shoring that up. I expect it to be a great ballgame, and our kids have some confidence with how we’re playing right now. It will be a chore just because of how athletic Jefferson is, and how we handle that.”
