Liberty-Eylau tops Van

Liberty-Eylau captured a pair of wins over Van on Thursday at Harris Field.

Deuntae Mack scored the goahead touchdown on a 22-yard run with 5:00 left in the fourth quarter to vault the Leopards JV to an 8-6 win.

Monquez Moore set up the winning play when he returned a Van conversion pass back for a safety in the third quarter after a Vandals touchdown. L-E is now 3-1.

The coaching staff praised the work of the offensive line as a key to the win.

Earlier, Kameron Livingston­e scored on touchdown runs of 78, 59, and 58 to lift L-E to a 3626 9th grade win. The Leopards (1-2-1) took a 6-0 lead when Triston Brock pulled in a 7-yard pass from Kourvasia Dunbar in the first quarter and never trailed.

Deondra Johnson added the first of L-E’s four rushing touchdowns with an 18-yard, second quarter sprint to the end zone. Javion Pierson added the twopoint conversion on a Dunbar pass.

Linebacker Danny Dickerson and defensive end LaGaryon Carson along with the entire offensive line was singled out for their efforts.

PG junior high splits

Pleasant Grove and Jefferson each won a game in a middle school doublehead­er at Hawk Stadium. The Hawks’ 8th grade team shutout the Bulldogs 34-0 to advance to 2-0 on the year.

Connor Keener accounted for two touchdowns on runs on 55 and 98 yards and run in a two-point conversion. Tyler Allen added a 5-yard rushing score. Carson Cox ripped his way to pay dirt on a 14-yarder. Chauncey Martin rushed in from five yards out and T.J. Cole ran in the conversion after for the final score.

PG’s 7th grade team lost 16-12. Both of the Hawks scores came on the ground. Nathan Jennings ran in from four yards away and Ryan Pickleman found the end zone with an 8-yard run.

THS clips Kilgore

KILGORE, Texas—Kip Williams 1-yard run with 8:02 remaining in the first half broke a scoreless tie and J.T. Morgan caught a 20-yard pass from Jaylen Rhome in the third quarter in Texas High’s 13-0 jayvee win over Kilgore.

The Tigers added their fourth victory in a row to remain undefeated on the season. They continue on the road next week with a game next Thursday at Longview.

Jefferson rolls

JEFFERSON, Texas—Pleasant Grove sophomores scored twice on kickoff returns, but that wasn’t near enough as the Bulldogs’ junior varsity rolled over PG, 38-14.

The Hawks slipped to 4-1 on the year despite Coryuntae Jones’ 80-yard kickoff return, and Dashon Williams’ 70-yard return. Matt Day kicked both PG PATs.

Queen City downs NB

QUEEN CITY, Texas—A 5yard, second quarter run by R.D. Kilgore broke a scoreless tie and Malik Wilburn’s 10-yard scamper in the final quarter propelled Queen City’s JV to a 12-0 win over New Boston.

The victory moves the Bulldogs to 4-1 entering next Thursday’s game at Hooks.

Lions sweep QC

NEW BOSTON, Texas— Keenan Baldwin scored New Boston’s final 16 points as the Lions’ 8th grade routed Queen City, 41-0.

Kyler Murphy got NB (1-2, 1-0) on the scoreboard early with a 21-yard TD pass from Jake Bobbitt. Bryce Green kicked the PAT.

Brady Chitwood followed with a 1-yard plunge for six points, and Demarcus Thompson scored on a 55-yard run, with Chitwood adding two extra points. Colby Rayfield scored on a 5-yard run, followed by Baldwin’s 53 and 33yard scoring runs.

New Boston also won the 7th grade game, 8-6. The Bulldogs scored late in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run by Isaiah Stigger after an intercepti­on by Walker Kennedy. Bishop Fields’ two extra points for New Boston was the difference.

Maud ties Big Sandy

MAUD, Texas—Quarterbac­k Gage Jones engineered Maud to both of its touchdowns in a 14-14 junior high deadlock with Big Sandy. Jones found Adam Roberts with 6:48 left in the second quarter with a 14-yard strike then ran in the two-point conversion.

After halftime Jones, who amassed 167 total yards, ran in from the 5 yard-line for the final score.

Cade Prince carried the ball seven times for 51 yards and Roberts had four receptions for 42 yards.

Rabb frosh edge MP

ATLANTA, Texas—Kelton Young scored three touchdowns, and Trin Taylor iced the game with an intercepti­on as Atlanta beat Mount Pleasant, 3229, in a freshman game at Rabbit Stadium.

Young had scoring runs of 12 and 62 yards and also returned an intercepti­on 60 yards for a score. Layton Henson had a pair of 5-yard TD runs and a 2-pointer for Atlanta, and Taylor added three receptions for 77 yards.

Desmon Robinson had three sacks, and Ethan Mauldin had a standout performanc­e on the offensive and defensive lines.

Panthers top Genoa

GENOA, Ark.—Jarret Easley ran for scores of 20 and 8 yards, and Landon Gonzalez was 8of-12 passing for 108 yards and a score as Fouke bested host Genoa Central, 36-22, in a junior high game.

Gonzalez connected with Richard Casto for a 15-yard strike, and Jonah Parker had three catches for 78 yards and also added a 35-yard intercepti­on return for a score.

Charley Baker rushed 18 yards for a Fouke TD and also tacked on a 2-pointer. Easley had a 2-pointer, and Bailey Searcy also had an intercepti­on for the Panthers, who improved to 2-2.

TMS sweeps

Texas Middle School took all three 8th grade games against Sulphur Springs held at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

TMS’ “A” team led by Vonderic Stanley routed Sulphur Springs, 42-7. Stanley ripped off touchdown runs of 32 and 82 yards and returned a kickoff 80 yards for a third score.

Diedrick Reeves scored on a 77-yard run. Kavion Ragland added a 29-yard running touchdown and Cole Christin burrowed over from the 2-yard line. The Tigers “C” team won 12-0 on separate touchdowns of 60 and 43 yards by Deonza Scott. The “B” team earned a 6-0 decision on a 55-yard, third quarter run from Quentrevio­us Wright and three intercepti­ons by defensive back John Lanier.

Daingerfie­ld wins two

REDWATER, Texas— Daingerfie­ld’s 8th grade whipped host Redwater, 31-8. The Dragons’ only score came on an 80-yard kickoff return by Chance Russell.

The Tigers won the 7th grade contest, 14-6. It appeared Redwater had scored on a long kickoff return after Daingerfie­ld’s final score, but a penalty nullified the TD. The Dragons were inside Daingerfie­ld’s 1 at the end of the game. Peyton Davis scored the Dragons’ points on a 4-yard run.

James Bowie splits

HARLETON, Texas—Ty Watts scored twice on runs of 12 and 7 yards in leading James Bowie Junior High past Harleton, 32-8. Billy Brown also scored twice on an 8-yard run and 65-yard kickoff return.

Kutter Walker added a pair of 2-pointers, while Zachary Cooper and Scotty Akins scored 2-pointers.

Harleton won the junior varsity game, 32-0.

Redwater prevails

DAINGERFIE­LD, Texas— Brandon Brooks caught a 13-yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds left in the game as Redwater nipped the host Tigers, 40-38.

T.J. Braley got the Dragons on the scoreboard by returning a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. His intercepti­on later helped set up another Redwater TD.

Chris Vaughn caught a 40yard touchdown pass from Tyler Yelvington. Robert Candelaria scored twice on a 5-yard pass from Yelvington, and a 55-yard run. Redwater is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in district.
