- —Johnny Green

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m., Royse City ISD Stadium.

LAST WEEK: Tyler Lee scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter and blocked an extra point, coming from behind to beat Texas High, 38-37. Kennedale dropped a 45-7 decision to highly-rated Argyle.

LAST YEAR: Sophomore Jawan Washington rushed for 216 yards and a TD, and Texas High twice failed to capitalize on fourth-quarter possessions inside the Kennedale 10-yard line and fell to the Wildcats, 25-13.

GAME FACTS: Class 3A Kennedale’s three losses have been to teams with a combined 10-0 record, including a pair of 4A teams in Crowley (42-41) and Mansfield Legacy (43-27). The Wildcats’ lone win was over 3A WilmerHutchins, 50-28. Kennedale’s offense operates from a Wing-T formation and averages 342 yards rushing a game, led by Washington’s 183.8 yards and 10 touchdowns. Last year’s game was played at Lindale. Texas High will be the home team tonight.

COACH’S COMMENTS: Texas High’s Barry Norton: “I thought our practices have been good this week. It’s just different because we’re looking at a completely different offense. We’ve gone to facing a pro-style to a spread to

an option and to now a Wing T. It’s hard on our defense.

“Even though we lost last week I think our kids feel good about how we played. I thought we built on the good things and corrected the others. Hopefully, we’ve put that behind us. It concerns me that we have to go on the road for the first time this year after a loss. But I think we will be fine.

“Kennedale has played a tough schedule, so you can’t go by their record. They have a good football team. Argyle got up on them pretty quickly, and that’s how you would like to do it. You want to make them throw it because that’s not what they want to do. They have some explosive players and they’re big. We have to go play good defense and keep them off the field.

“We need to play well and continue to get better. We’ve done that so far, but we still have a long way to go to be a good football team. If everybody does their job we’ll be find. It should be a good ball game.”
