Early voting for primary election continues this week
Early voting for Texas’ March 4 primary election continues today and ends Friday.
In Bowie County, early voting locations are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bi-State Justice Center in downtown Texarkana and the courthouse in New Boston.
Texas voters must show photo identification, such as a driver’s license, to vote.
Bowie County contested races are all on the Republican ballot. They are: County Judge Jeff Akin James Carlow Precinct 2 Commissioner Tom Whitten, incumbent Bill Henson Precinct 4 Commissioner Mike Carter Pat McCoy, incumbent Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 2
Gibson “Hoot” Hadaway, incumbent Trinity Courtney Voters also will decide the state House District 1 spot. The district includes Bowie, Franklin, Lamar and Red River counties.
Both candidates are on the Republican ticket, and they are challenger Gary VanDeaver and incumbent Rep. George Lavender.
Other races found on the Republican ballot are U.S. representative for District 4, which includes Bowie County.
Incumbent Ralph Hall of Rockwall has five Republican challengers and no Democratic challengers.
Voters who choose the Republican ballot also will decide on U.S. senator, governor and lieutenant governor races, among others.
No local races are contested on the Democratic ballot, though voters who choose to vote in the Democratic primary can decide candidates for U.S. senator and governor, among others.
