-

The Overton-Brooks Veterans Administration Medical Center in Shreveport will be hosting at Texarkana Veterans Town Hall meeting from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 21 at the Holiday Inn Express’ Event Room at 5210 Crossroads Parkway.

All local and area military veterans and their families are invited to the meeting, which will also include veterans service organization representatives, local, state and federally elected officials and community partners who support veterans.

The meeting’s purpose will be to collect thoughts, concerns and ideas about improving the U.S. Veterans Administration Health Care System.

Besides the town hall meeting, the public is also invited to a “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans” ceremony which will be at 6 p.m. March 30 at the Korea-Vietnam Memorial, located near the West Seventh Street and North State Line Avenue intersection.

All Vietnam and Vietnam Era veterans, along with their families, are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be hosted by the local Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter # 278.

March 30 is designated as Vietnam Veterans Day—a day of remembrance set aside for Vietnam veterans because it marked the end of the war.

For the United States, March 30, 1973, marked the day when all U.S. ground troops were withdrawn from South Vietnam.
