Arkansas-side man, 59, dies after collision with SUV
An Arkansas-side man has died after his motorcycle collided with an SUV on East Seventh and Laurel streets Tuesday afternoon, according to Kristi Mitchell, Texarkana, Ark., police spokeswoman.
Danny Taylor, 59, of Texarkana, Ark., was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center, according to police. He was pronounced dead about 9 p.m. Tuesday, Mitchell said.
About 3 p.m., a Mazda CX-7 driven by Peyton Glenn, 18, of Texarkana, Texas, was in the far right lane on East Seventh when it crossed four lanes of traffic in an attempt to turn left onto Laurel, Mitchell said.
Taylor was driving a Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle in the center lane of East Seventh when Glenn attempted to negotiate the turn onto Laurel, cutting in front of the Taylor’s cruiser and causing him to collide with the side of the Mazda,
according to Cpl. Les Munn, TAPD spokesman at the scene of the accident.
Texarkana, Ark., Fire Department and LifeNet also responded to the accident scene and treated Taylor. Medical personnel appeared to be applying pressure to the back of his head before taking him to the hospital. Munn said Taylor sustained significant head injuries in the accident. Taylor was pronounced dead several hours later.
Mitchell said Taylor was wearing a helmet, but the impact of the collision caused his helmet to come off.
Glenn was cited for careless and prohibited driving, Mitchell said, and no changes had been made to charges at presstime.
