Arkansas High girls outmatch Mena; LR next

Arkansas High’s girls soccer team scored at will against Mena in a 4-1 victory on Tuesday at Razorback Stadium.

Danielle Griffin, Amanda Fincher, Skylaar Underwood and Lakin Resecker each booted in goals for the Lady Backs.

Arkansas High will host Little Rock Hall on Friday.

GOLF THS sweeps district tourney

LINDALE, Texas—Both Texas High’s boys and girls emerged victorious at the District 15-5A golf tournament at Garden Valley Resort.

The boys finished with a 590, 24 shots ahead of second-place finisher Sulphur Springs. The girls shot a total of 641, 50 shots ahead of Hallsville.

Garrett May led the Tigers with a 136 total. Grayson Jones finished with a 144, Reese Nichols and Matt Preiskorn each carded a 155, Tyler Duncan shot a 159, Austin Pinkham (164) and Ryan Hall (166).

The Lady Tigers were led by Emma Edwards’ 156. Camryn Parson and Hannah Brantley each shot a 158, Madeline Hunley (169), Kasey Kane (179), Natalie Portwood (185) and Gaby Santiago (193).

BASEBALL Arkansas High 26, LR Parkview 1

LITTLE ROCK—Arkansas High had an absolute field day with Little Rock Parkview.

The Razorbacks scored 10 runs in the first inning and followed up with 13 in the second.

Steven Boyce ripped three singles and three RBI for the Hogs. Lavert Paxton popped two singles, a double and three RBI. Cameron Jones finished with four RBI.

Patrick Flanagan notched the win on the mound.

SOFTBALL Mount Pleasant 6, Texas High 5

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—A late charge in the final inning gave Mount Pleasant the victory in a hard-fought battle.

Texas High’s Chealsea Slider slammed two homers in the contest: a three-run shot in the first inning and a two-run shot in the fifth inning. She finished with five RBI.

Kenzie Dickson popped two singles for THS.

Precious Thomas and Bre Smallwood each had two doubles for Mount Pleasant.

Arkansas High 15, LR Parkview 0; Arkansas High 16, LR Parkview 1

LITTLE ROCK—Arkansas High picked up its first wins of the season after a sweep of Little Rock Parkview in a doublehead­er.

Anna Claire Timmons threw a no-hitter in the first game and a one-hitter in the second. She totaled nine strikeouts on the day.

The Lady Backs are 2-7, 2-3 on the season.
