Danny Lewis will run for Miller County judge

-

Miller County Treasurer Danny Lewis has announced he is running for Miller County judge. Lewis said he believes in hard work and that God and family come first. He also believes being involved in one’s community is the only way to help make things better.

“It’s easy to talk about what needs to be done in the community to make it better. But it’s another thing to actually get out there and put your actions to work,” he said.

He was the first Republican county treasurer elected in Miller County in 2012.

Lewis implemented direct deposit for county employee payroll and managed a treasurer’s office remodel, bringing it into the 21st century.

Other accomplishments include added security measures to ensure the county’s treasury is safer, being instrumental in making sure the county is under budget and on track and negotiating better interest rates for county investment accounts.

Lewis has served on the Texarkana, Ark., City Beautiful Commission since 2004. He currently serves as Texarkana Arkansas Education Foundation treasurer and been a board member since 2009. He also serves on the Arkansas County Treasurers Association’s continuing education board.

“I’ve certainly loved my time as the Miller County treasurer and I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity given to me by the citizens. Having the experience as the treasurer will only be an added benefit if I’m given the opportunity to become the next Miller County judge,” he said.

A lifelong Miller County and Texarkana, Ark. resident, he is the son of Jerry Lewis and Mary Jo Lewis and the grandson of Ervin Lewis and Winnie (Coker) Lewis. He is married to Tami (Yarberry) Lewis and they have two children, Kayleigh, 13 and Kolby, 9.
