Roy Nicholson went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 12, 2016 surrounded by his family. He fought a long battle but Sunday, his victory was won. He was born in Chanute, Kansas to George and Rose Nicholson on July 9, 1944. He loved to visit ball parks with his family and was formerly the co-owner of Southern Ice. He was a member at First Baptist Church, Moore’s Lane, where he served as an usher for thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Allan Reed. He is survived by his wife, Kate Nicholson, son Brian Nicholson and fiancé Misty Mclelland all of Texarkana, Texas, two granddaugh­ters, Brailey Nicholson and fiancé Blake Fowler of Texarkana, Arkansas, Blaize Nicholson of Texarkana, Texas, three grandsons, Brayden Nicholson and fiancé Denver Kidwell of Nash, Texas, Briar Reed of Ashdown, Arkansas and Dylan Silvey of Texarkana, Texas, Three great grandsons, Tripp Fowler of Texarkana, Arkansas, Trapper and Traxton Nicholson of Nash, Texarkana, one great granddaugh­ter, Rhyder Fowler of Texarkana, Arkansas, one brother, Ed Nicholson of Medford, Oregon, his mother in law, Marie Thornton, of Hooks, Texas and a host of friends and family.

A celebratio­n of his life will be held at First Baptist Church, Moore’s Lane on Thursday, June16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the sanctuary with Dr. Jeff Schreve and Reverend Larry Sims officiatin­g. Burial will be at Chapelwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Chapelwood Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening.
