Troubled society TO THE EDITOR:
Why have we become such a trigger happy society? Is it because of the entertainment we were exposed to? Our young to middle age people have forgotten how to speak to each other and they place little if any value on life.
Life is short enough without the violence we are succumbing to. Our country has got to get back to God and the values that make us the greatest country in the world.
Guns are for protection, and to provide food for your family. When in the hands of today’s youth and the radical outcasts it becomes a weapon of mass destruction. Gun control is not the answer, discipline, stability and respect passed to our youth is the answer. As a police officer you also are to act with discipline, stability and respect. That badge and gun is an honor bestowed by our society, not a personal tool to reclaim your bullied childhood and make a name for yourself.
My heart goes out to all mankind being murdered for selfless reasons. We all have freedom of choice, and that choice will one day be given judgment. God will pass the ultimate judgment upon all mankind for their choices. Jesus is our father and loves us as we should love each other. Kim Miracle Texarkana, Texas Second Amendment TO THE EDITOR:
These are tough times for our local police on whom war is being raged. Let us hope and pray the outcome will not find our city police under the control of a tyrannical federal government. By now everyone can see there is the shadow of tyranny creeping onto the American stage. The future outlook for citizen liberty is not good when one listens to the likes of Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Obama.
In order to establish a Nazi-like tyranny, private ownership of guns must be eliminated. That is why the federal government must get eventual control of all the guns now
in the hands of citizens. Defend the Second Amendment and then support your local police and keep them independent from the federal government. John K. Carter Nash, Texas Elections TO THE EDITOR:
Billy Graham’s daughter, Ruth, made the statement that she could not vote democratic because of the party’s platform. They believe in killing unwanted babies in the womb and giving same sex couples the right to marry. Both of these are a great sin against God. A prophet said these are the best of times and the worst of times. The best for those who put their trust in God but the worst for those who don’t. Romans 8:14 tells us to be led by the Holy Spirit, so we won’t go the wrong direction. Thanks for voting. Don Bloodworth
