Salvation Army seeks volunteers

The Salvation Army is looking for people in the community who would like to become emergency disaster volunteers. In disaster situations, volunteers help prepare meals, set up emergency cots and beds and provide personal hygiene kits and spiritual comfort for those who've been affected.

Training for volunteers is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 23 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Salvation Army Church, 315 E. Fourth St., Texarkana, Ark. Training is free and spaces are limited. Once training is complete, participants will be able to respond to disasters both locally and statewide.
