“I thought there was a little feeling out there in the first quarter. We had the lightning delay and missed a field goal,

but we figured out what their plans were. Defensively, I thought our kids did a good job for the most part. We did give up a couple of big plays. They were from misalignments. Our kids played hard all night. We adjusted to an opponent that we really didn’t know anything about.

“I thought going into the game they would use a lot of zone coverage. Right off the bat they’re loaded the box and blitzing a bunch. I said as long as they’re going to play us man, let’s throw the football. I think we only called nine run plays in the course of the ballgame. It wasn’t that we couldn’t run the ball, we just didn’t run the ball. For a first game, and not knowing the opponent, I’m pleased. We did make a lot of mistakes. We dropped some passes and missed a lot of tackles.”
