Texarkana Gazette

New to town

TO THE EDITOR:

Pat and I just moved to Texarkana this past spring and we are so impressed with the people in this area. It is so nice to hear people say “have a blessed day.” I work for a company that it is not only OK to talk about Jesus it is expected; we have a prayer session every week. Now we just need to find Pat a job.

We have joined a church and have been welcomed with open arms. The amazing people at this church made us feel like we belonged there forever from the first time we stepped through the door. The sermons are always very enlightening and hit close to home.

The restaurants in the area are all very good, we have not had any bad meals and the service is always impeccable. Every store very clean and orderly and the staffs are friendly.

Initially we weren’t having much luck finding a house, but then we met a Realtor who personally took us around until we found the perfect home to purchase. We have a dog that really enjoys the dog parks in this area and I enjoy living in a city where pets are welcome.

We love exploring all the small towns, lakes, rivers and streams around the area, what a beautiful piece of America we live in. We really look forward to what the holiday season brings to this area and how people decorate, we have always heard of Marshall, Texas, really decorating, but I bet Texarkana and Hot Springs are probably just as good.

Once we get settled in I hope we get to meet more and more people in this beautiful town and hopefully get to join the team that is working on upgrading our downtown area, we see so much potential in bringing this area back to the way it was in its heyday! Thanks for letting us be your neighbors. Neil R. Voorhees Texarkana, Ark.
