PG SWEEPS MT. PLEASANT

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—Macey Adams slapped in 15 service points including seven aces, and Pleasant Grove swept Mount Pleasant, 25-19, 25-11, 25-13 in a varsity volleyball match Tuesday at Willie Williams Gym.

Abbey Harjo helped out with 11 service points, while libero Blair Smith had 18 digs for the Lady Hawks. Britton Anderson powered down 10 kills, and Anna Grace Miller had 25 assists.

Reagan Franks served in 18 winners as PG’s junior varsity swept the Lady Tigers, 25-12, 25-18. Mary Old had 11 service points for the Hawks.

Mount Pleasant won the 9th grade match, 25-18, 27-25.

Pleasant Grove (15-2) plays in the White Oak tournament Thursday.

LADY LEOPARDS FALL IN 4

DIANA, Texas—New Diana topped Liberty-Eylau, 25-13, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23.

Kelly Cigainero served 10 service points for the Lady Leopards. Kayla Norris and Amoyia Gentry each had eight kills, Derrica Henderson and Kyana Norman contribute­d seven blocks, and Mariah Coleman had 22 digs.

L-E’s jayvee won, 25-23, 25-15. High point for the Leopards was Myricole Moss with 10 points.

LADY BACKS BESTED

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—Tierra Holliman served in 11 points and had nine assists, but Arkansas High was swept by Chapel Hill, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23.

Brooklyn Brewer had seven kills, and Jasmine Benson led the Lady Backs with five digs.

Alpha Larry slapped in 11 points as Arkansas High’s junior varsity defeated the Lady Red Devils, 25-22, 25-14. Jasmine Benson helped out with six service points and five digs.

Arkansas High (3-7) starts conference play at home Thursday against Lake Hamilton.

LADY RABBS NIP L-K

LINDEN, Texas—Atlanta edged Linden-Kildare, 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 22-25, 19-17, to even its record.

Amanda Whatley served 19 points for the Lady Rabbs (5-5), and Avery Trotter had 33 assists, three aces and a solo block. TeShuna Sheppard swatted 13 kills, Alecia Garcia had six digs, and Sheveonia Smith had a solo block, as well. Smith and Cydnee Wood also had nine points each.

Kayla Romer had 13 points for the Lady Tigers (6-12), and MaKayla Martin added 10 winners and three aces. Sierra Johnson had 15 assists, Skylar Vaughn 10 assists, Jaimya Gaston 10 kills and Stormie Littlejohn eight kills and four blocks. Martin also had 20 digs, and Amaya Savannah had 12 digs.

Atlanta won the junior varsity, 25-15, 25-14, with Dannie Arredondo and Brianna Waffer serving nine points each for the Rabbs.

Jamauri Godwin had 16 winners for Atlanta’s freshmen in a 22-25, 25-17, 25-15 win. Jade Madlock served 14 for L-K.

LADY DRAGONS ROLL

REDWATER, Texas—Ramzi Smith served in 17 winners as Redwater swept James Bowie, 25-18, 25-18, 25-10 at Dragon Gym.

Karley Morrow hammered down seven kills, and teammate Karli Boatright made 14 assists for the Lady Dragons. Redwater’s Kelsey Harris had 11 digs.

Madison Orr had 16 service points as the Dragons’ junior varsity swept the Lady Pirates, 25-19, 25-2.

HUGHES SPRINGS NOTCHES WIN

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Peyton Blythe put down 10 kills to go along with 10 assists, and Hughes Springs defeated Union Grove, 25-20, 26-28, 25-14, 25-21 at Mustang Gym.

Cypress Wright swatted seven kills, and teammate Kensley Echols added six kills and had 14 assists for the Lady Mustangs.

LADY CARDS WIN IN 5

WASKOM, Texas—Maud survived Waskom in five sets, 25-19, 25-17, 31-33, 19-25, 15-9.

Mara Wilson and Ashley Barnette swatted 10 kills apiece for the Lady Cardinals. Harley Dear had 25 assists, and Lillie Love added 10 service points.

Waskom won the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-15.

LADY BULLDOGS SWEEP

QUEEN CITY, Texas—Jessica Jones hammered 10 kills and had three blocks to lead Queen City over Airline High School out of Bossier City, La., 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.

Jayley Stringer made 11 digs, and Maci Stringer added 19 assists for the Lady Bulldogs.

LADY LIONS PREVAIL

NEW BOSTON, Texas—Jennifer McCord served 15 points, and McKenzie Thomas had 13 kills as New Boston bested Avery, 25-14, 25-11, 25-10.

Hannah White added 19 assists for the Lady Lions, Hannah Burnett had three blocks and Morgan McAlexande­r a pair of solo blocks.

McKynzi Harper was Avery’s top server with four points.

The Lady Bulldogs won the junior varsity ‘A’ match, 25-21, 25-23, with Ashten Simington taking high service points. Alyson Roseberry led the Lions with six points.

Avery also won the jayvee ‘B’ match, 24-26, 27-25, 25-22. Chloe Garrett had 12 for Avery, and Emily Breen served 12 for New Boston.

New Boston plays at Pittsburg next Tuesday with all three teams starting at 4:30 p.m.

LADY BEARS SWEPT BY MV

MOUNT VERNON, Texas—Mount Vernon won all three sets against DeKalb, 25-18, 25-14, 25-17.

Ashley Tuppen and Mikayla Baxley served six points each for the Lady Bears, Baxley adding 13 digs and 10 assists. Shelby Olson and Bailey Blackstone had five kills apiece.

Mount Vernon won the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-7. Janique Thomas had three points, and Hope Murphy two kills for DeKalb.

MV won the 9th grade contest, 25-18, 25-21. Evette Martinez had eight winners for the Bears.

TENNIS TIGERS TOP PT

LONGVIEW, Texas—Texas High’s varsity opened up district play with a 19-0 win over Pine Tree. The Tigers host Hallsville on Sept. 13. Complete results are available in Sportstats.

HOGS’ BOYS CRUISE TO VICTORY

EL DORADO, Ark.—Arkansas High’s boys team remained undefeated in conference by beating both Parker’s Chapel and El Dorado Tuesday.

The Lady Backs defeated Parker’s Chapel, but fell short against El Dorado.

Arkansas High plays at Russellvil­le Tuesday.
