Daingerfield Tigers host Paul Pewitt
DAINGERFIELD, Texas— While several districts take this week off for league play starting next week, there are some district races that have already begun.
Daingerfield was open last week as 7-3A, Division II kicked off, and the Tigers host Paul Pewitt tonight at Mickey Mayne Tiger Stadium.
The Brahmas are coming off a 70-43 win over Ore City to improve to 3-2, 1-0. Daingerfield (1-4, 0-0) fell to White Oak in its last game, 43-36.
Paul Pewitt is averaging 34.8 points per game and allowing 39.8.
The Tigers, under new coach Mike Waldie, have averaged just 17.5 points and given up 30.0 per outing.
Brahma TyShun Mitchell is second in the area in scoring with 12 touchdowns and five extra points for 77 points. He has 18 catches for 365 yards for a 20.3 average and six of his TDs.
Pewitt QB Lucas Hungerford has connected on 27 of 54 passes for 503 yards and seven scores, and RB LaBrandon Houston has 77 rushes for 456 yards and a TD. Hungerford has also rushed for 301 yards and two TDs.
Markevion Grant had a pair of long scoring runs for Daingerfield against stateranked White Oak. Grant has rushed 60 times for 395 yards and four scores this year.
