Three people arrested after investigation into package at jail
A month-long investigation into a package that was intercepted as it was attempted to be introduced into the Bowie County Annex jail has resulted in the arrest of three people.
Rashad Edward Faucette, 23, of Texarkana, Texas, Michael Kamokee Wyrick, 26, of Texarkana, Texas, and Sarina Janee Beatty, 20, of Hooks, Texas, have been arrested for introducing or attempting to introduce a prohibited substance into a correctional facility, Bowie County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Neal said.
On September 19, a package containing marijuana and tobacco was recovered from a bathroom at the Bowie County Annex jail after visitation during a standard search. During the investigation, it was found that Beatty had delivered the package and that it was intended for inmate Wyrick.
Capt. Jerl Palmore interviewed Beatty, who admitted that she had dropped the package with the intent of it getting to Wyrick. This was to be accomplished by former corrections officer Rashad Faucette delivering the package to Wyrick.
Beatty also told Palmore that she had delivered to Faucette another package that he was to take in the jail to Wyrick. Video footage and phone calls were found that confirmed the statement Beatty gave to Palmore. Warrants of arrest were then obtained for all three suspects.
Faucette was arrested Oct. 25 at the Bi-State Building for prohibited substance in a correctional facility. His bond was set at $30,000 by Judge Gibson Hadaway.
