Three area tournaments begin today
Three basketball tournament will be held at three sites starting today.
New Boston and Redwater will host boys and girls tournaments, and McLeod hosts a boys basketball tournament.
Gunslinger Tournament
NEW BOSTON, Texas— Action begins at 10 a.m. and continues throughout the day at Lion Gym with the last game of the day set for 7:30 p.m.
Eight teams will compete in each the boys and girls divisions.
In the girls games, LibertyEylau’s junior varsity and Idabel, Okla., play at 10, Pleasant Grove and Arkansas High tussle at 12:40 p.m., L-E and Hope clash at 3:30, and Ashdown and New Boston meet at 6:10.
In the boys games, Daingerfield and Idabel play at 11:20 a.m., and Pleasant Grove takes on Texas High’s jayvee at 2 p.m. Arkansas High and Paris tip off at 4:50, and New Boston faces Hope at 7:30.
Bracket play continues through Friday and Saturday, with the girls championship set for 5 and the boys title game at 6:20 Saturday.
Dragon Invitational
REDWATER, Texas—Eight girls teams and six boys teams tip off today in the Redwater Invitational basketball tournament, which runs through Saturday.
In the new gym, Paul Pewitt girls take on Avery at 3 p.m., while Redwater boys duel with James Bowie at 4:30. LindenKildare girls play Taylor at 6, and Redwater girls face James Bowie at 7:30.
In the old gym, Hooks girls contend with Fouke at 4:30,
Hooks and Fouke boys follow at 6, and James Bowie and Taylor battle at 7:30.
The boys games Friday begin with Linden-Kildare and Hooks at 3 p.m. in the new gym, Taylor takes on Redwater at 6 in the new gym, and, in the old gym, Fouke and Linden-Kildare clash at 7:30.
McLeod Boys Tournament
MCLEOD, Texas—Eight teams will be divided into two pools for today’s and four games Friday, with the teams being seeded for a bracket to begin at 3 p.m. Friday.
The final is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Making up Pool A are McLeod, DeKalb, Bloomburg and Atlanta, and Pool B includes Saltillo, Maud, Avery and Queen City.
Today’s action begins with Maud and Queen City at 9 a.m. Atlanta and Bloomburg play at 10:30, Avery and Saltillo meet at noon, McLeod and DeKalb clash at 1:30 p.m., Avery and Maud share the court at 3, Queen City takes on Saltillo at 4:30, Atlanta tips off against DeKalb at 6, and McLeod faces Bloomburg at 7:30.
