Clarksvill­e boys defeat Liberty-Eylau

CLARKSVILL­E, Texas— Clashon Gaffney (19 points) and Quintin Wallace (17) combined for 36 points to help Clarksvill­e survive Liberty-Eylau and avoid being swept by Texarkana tams this week.

Ranzae Daniels added 12 points for the Blue Tigers.

Decorian Phillips hit for 16 points, and Isaiah Cross added 12 for the Leopards (2-1), who play in the Union Grove Tournament today.

Clarksvill­e won the junior varsity game, 40-37. Brandon Plummer had 11 points for L-E.

JEFFERSON, Texas—Atlanta’s varsity girls’ squad scraped by Jefferson in a thriller.

Brittany Collins paced the Lady Rabbs to victory with her 20 points and 12 boards. Teammate Shevonia Smith led all scorers dropping a gamehigh 25 points to go along with her four assists.

Atlanta’s Teshuna Sheppard contribute­d a double-double, dropping 10 points and grabbing 13 boards. Keyona Easter played herself in the statesheet obtaining 11 points, eight assists and eight steals.

Jefferson was led by Alexis Jones and her team-high 21 points. Teammate Jayda McCoy dropped 19 points for Jefferson as well.

Mount Pleasant 55, PG 38

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—Pleasant Grove (6-4) lost a heart-breaker to Mount Pleasant in varsity girls’ action.

Sha’Nequa Henry paced the Lady Hawks offensivel­y, dropping 11 points. Madeline Haak followed suit, dropping 10 points herself.

Shakyra Hutchings led all scorers, dropping a game- high 19 points. Teammate Kemiyah Howard added 12 points for the home squad.
