Texas-side woman dies from injuries after car wreck

A Texarkana, Texas, woman has died from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle crash earlier this week.

Christina Pettit, 36, died Wednesday night at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for the Texarkana, Texas, Police Department.

Texarkana, Texas, police responded to the accident at 3:50 p.m. on Monday afternoon in the 3000 block of Buchanan Road. Pettit was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla northbound on Buchanan Road when the vehicle rear ended a 1997 BMW Z3, operated by Travis Moon, 66, of Texarkana, Texas. Moon had stopped in the northbound lane of traffic, waiting to make a left turn into a private drive.

Pettit and Moon were taken to CHRISTUS St. Michael hospital by LifeNet ambulance. Pettit was transferred to Parkland Hospital on Tuesday.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
