Altercation results in assault charges against inmate
An inmate at Southwest Arkansas Community Correction Center in Texarkana is facing charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening related to an altercation with a staff member earlier this month.
Alex Dodson, 36, is serving time for a breaking-and-entering conviction assessed by a judge in Pulaski County late last year. Court records show
Dodson has a long history of disturbances, conflicts with law enforcement and substance abuse.
Capt. Vicki Walker responded to a radio call Feb. 2 for assistance in the correction center’s third-floor housing unit, according to an arrest affidavit used to create the following account. When Walker arrived, she observed Dodson engaged in a heated verbal exchange with another inmate.
Dodson allegedly refused to comply with Walker’s directive to be quiet, talked over her and said, “he was coming to her house to kill her and blow her head off,” the affidavit states.
Dodson allegedly “threw a gang sign,” while Walker attempted to cuff him and allegedly attempted to charge Walker as he exited the firstfloor elevator, which led another center staff member to restrain him. While in restraints and in a cell with a wire mesh door, Dodson allegedly spit in Walker’s face and eye. Dodson allegedly continued to threaten Dodson and referred to her in profane terms.
Warrants for Dodson’s arrest were issued Tuesday in Miller County on charges of aggravated assault on a corrections or law enforcement officer and for terroristic threatening. Dodson has not yet appeared in court on the charges.
