Genoa Central boys sweep Mena

MENA, Ark.—Genoa Central picked up two conference wins with a 14-0 shutout of Mena in the first game and a 15-3 romp in the second.

Tyler Moreland got the win and combined with Garrett Cook for a 3-hitter for the Dragons in their 14-0 victory.

Cook slapped three singles and drove in three runs for Genoa Central, Moreland had 3 RBI, a single, a double and a triple. Jacob Jackson added a pair of singles and Tyler Campbell popped in a single.

Mason Sellers earned the win on the mound in the Dragons’ 15-3 victory. Sellers and Austin Savell combined for a 3-hitter.

Cook laced in a triple and three singles, Trevor Wells clubbed a triple and a single, and Alex Woodle hammered a triple and a pair of singles for Genoa Central. Teammate Colby Cobb helped out with two singles.

Genoa Central (4-2, 3-0) hosts Cossatot River Friday at 4:30.

GENOA CENTRAL 7, MENA 1

MENA, Ark.—Lakyn Fluker pitched a 3-hitter and smacked a 2-run triple to lead the Lady Dragons over the Lady Bearcats in a conference game.

Victoria Hill went 2 for 3 as she belted a triple and a double. Hill had 1 RBI, while teammate Bailey Moon hit a 1-run double for Genoa Central.

The Dragons (3-2, 2-1) hosts Cossatot River in a double header Friday at 4.

Powerlifti­ng

L-E’S IRVING QUALIFIES FOR STATE

FAIRFIELD, Texas—Liberty-Eylau’s Ashley Irving placed second in her division Saturday and qualified for the state powerlifti­ng meet in two weeks in Waco, Texas.

Irving totaled 925 to finished runner-up behind a paris lifter, who hoisted 995 pounds. The Lady Leopard had a 400 squat, 190 bench press and 335 dead lift.

Irving is ranked No. 7 in the top 15 for her weight division and will compete in the Division II state meet on March 16.

DeKALB GIRLS’ 7TH EARN FIRST

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas—DeKalb’s 7th grade girls scored 135 and won the junior high meet at Brahma Stadium.

Redwater was second with 87 points and New Boston took third with 85.

Mount Vernon won the 8th grade meet with 160 points. New Boston finished second with 125 and Redwater third with 109.
