Texas High boys edge Marshall, 3-2
Adkins throws complete game, hits homer in win
MARSHALL, Texas—Senior Colby Adkins hurled a five-hit complete game and belted a two-run home run to help Texas High edge Marshall, 3-2, in the District 16-5A opener Tuesday at Maverick Field.
Adkins struck out six and walked one and sent his big fly soaring in the fifth after the Mavericks had taken a 2-1 advantage.
Eric Sutton, Jakob Hearne and Kyle Choate each had a single for the Tigers (8-7, 1-0), and Sutton scored a run in the first inning.

Softball TEXAS HIGH 10, MARSHALL 5
MARSHALL, Texas—Texas High Braley Turner blasted a 3-run home run for Texas High during a 5-run second inning, and the Lady Tigers bested Marshall in District 16-5A action.
Mabry Smith picked up the win with five innings of work, and Lindsey Egger pitched the final two frames in relief. Turner was 3 for 5 in the game, Ashley Wyrick was 3 for 4, Bailey Groom had a triple, single and three RBI, and Ryann Williams and Smith added two hits apiece.
Haylie Rich was 2 for 3 to lead the Lady Mavs’ 4-hit attack.
Texas High’s junior varsity won, 15-6. Miya Wilson was 2 for 3.

MAUD, Texas—Allie Houchens got the win and gave up one run on four hits as Maud defeated Arkansas High.
Pitcher Kaitlyn Fortenberry gave up just four hits for the Lady Backs.
The Lady Cardinals’ Ashley Barnette slapped two singles, while Arkansas High’s Ajahi Cheatham punched in a double.
Courtlyne Barnette doubled and singled as Maud won the junior varsity game 4-3. Abby Mathis helped the Cardinals’ out with a triple.

SPRING HILL, Ark.—Liberty-Eylau needed extra innings to topple twotime defending state champion Spring Hill Monday.
The Lady Leopards scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning with MJ Coleman ripping a 2-run double in the frame to give L-E the lead.
Liberty-Eylau banged out 17 hits and took advantage of eight Lady Bear errors.
Keeley Norris had a triple and two singles for the Leopards, winning pitcher Bella Gunderson had two doubles and a single, Mckenzye Williamson added a double among her three hits, and Tori Foster had three singles.
Maegan Ward hammered a solo home run for Spring Hill and also belted a pair of doubles.
