DISTRICT 16-5A GIRLS
District champion Sulphur Springs claimed three superlatives on the girls 16-5A all-district basketball team, and runner-up Mount Pleasant had the most selections on the first team.
Pine Tree senior Marissa Gary was named the Player of the Year by the district coaches. Hallsville sophomore Maddison Ford was the Newcomer of the Year.
Offensive MVP was Sulphur Springs junior Kaylee Jefferson, Defensive MVP was sophomore teammate Autumn Tanton, and Jeff Chapman was Coach of the
Year.
Texas High sophomore Antonia Porter was selected to the all-district first team, along with the Mount Pleasant trio of seniors Sakaria Grant and Shakyra Hutchings and sophomore Jordan Dickerson. Sulphur Springs’ firstteam selections were sophomore SaDavia Porter and senior Tori Moore, and Hallsville’s first-teamers were sophomore Addison McDermott and senior Brooklyn Taylor. Completing the first team were Greenville senior Brittani Gilstrap, Marshall senior Lajaccie Tuck and Pine Tree junior Jordan Fuller.
