Police arrest one, search for another after shooting
Atlanta, Texas, man killed Saturday night
Texarkana, Texas, Police arrested one Texas-side man and are still looking for another in connection with the late Saturday evening shooting death of an Atlanta, Texas, man on North State Line Avenue.
Police arrested Lee Lewis Jr., 36, about 4 a.m. Sunday morning at his home on Magnolia Street and charged him with murder in connection with the shooting death of Tilford Barfield III, 25, of Atlanta, Texas. Police arrived at the shooting scene around 1o:1o p.m. Saturday evening. There they found Barfield on the ground at the Bay Wash car wash at 4203 North State Line Avenue with multiple gun shot wounds in his abdomen and both his legs.
Barfield received transport by LifeNet Emergency Medical Services to Christus Saint Michael Health Center. There,
he was later pronounced dead.
According to witnesses police interviewed at the scene, a fight broke at the car wash which led to Barfield being shot several times. Following the shooting, Lewis and a second man, identified as Jimmy Jerome Dancer, 29, also a Texas-side resident, allegedly fled in a red Chevrolet Tahoe just prior to officers arriving at the scene.
Currently, police have issued an arrest warrant on a charge of murder for Dancer and they are still trying to locate his whereabouts. Police warn that Dancer may still be armed.
