Liberty-Eylau tops PG, 17-7

Liberty-Eylau triumphed with a 17-7 win over Pleasant Grove after forcing the run-rule in the bottom of the sixth inning at Lady Leopard Field at H.E. Markham Park.

The Lady Hawks held their own, clawing their way back from a five-run deficit, in the first three innings.

Bre Jones initiated the Hawks third inning retaliatio­n with with a double to left field that brought home Khadijah Oritola, who got on base after after a double to left field, to make it 5-1 in favor of the Lady Leopards.

Dossey, who got on base after a line drive to left field, and Jones were batted in by Presely Hargrove, cutting the lead to two.

Hargrove and Kaylee Kelly scored for Hawks in the third frame, to knot it at 5-all.

Despite the strong answer by the Lady Hawks in the third the Leopards were unfazed.

Keeley Norris got the ball rolling for L-E in the first with a single to left field. Moments later, she made it home after stealing two bases.

The Leopards tacked on four more runs, including a 2-RBI double by McKayla Power, before PG gathered the three needed outs.

In the remaining three innings L-E dominated the field as it tallied up 12 more runs while holding back the visitor to only two. the

Errors were a factor for both teams in the contest, but for PG the errors seemed to come at the most inopportun­e times allowing the Leopards to build on their margin.

Bella Gunderson claimed the win in the circle, threw a complete game, and struck out four.

Keely Norris, Tori Foster, and McKenzye Williamson led L-E's hitting with three singles apiece.
