PG, Prescott share wins at Merchant Relays

PRESCOTT, Ark.—Pleasant Grove and Prescott shared the spoils at the Merchant Relays Thursday.

Pleasant Grove’s girls scored scored 152 points and took home the big golden trophy. Prescott was the runner-up with 137.33.

The Curley Wolves got a little revenge as they defeated Pleasant Grove’s boys 137.5-100.

Monique Walker, a junior at PG, was the track meet’s top female athlete with 38.5 points. Walker was followed by Prescott’s Anna Byers, who totaled 32.5 and Gurdon’s Kira Accor’s 29.5 total.

Deonte Jamison finished first individual­ly in the boys’ division with 28 points. Cualan Williams of Lafayette County was second with 26.25, and teammate Lepatrick Miller finished third with 24.75.

First place finishers for the Lady Hawks were Grace Pickelman (high jump), Walker (triple jump, 200 meters), Hannah Snyder (100 meters), and Britton Anderson (400 meters).

Walker set the meet record in the triple jump with a bound of 36-11.5.

Pleasant Grove’s Joy Bruce, Snyder, Walker, and Ashanti Levingston crossed the line first in the 4x100.

Prescott won the girls’ 4x800 relay with the team of Anna Byers, Kaleigh Spencer, Jonay Roberts, and Mary Beth McCoy. Byers took gold in the 1600 and 3200-meter races.

The Curley Wolves had two individual first place winners with Deonte Jamison’s meet record 44-08.5 leap in the triple jump, Jamison (300 hurdles), and Jay Marks (discus).

The team of Trey Rucker, Cameron Cox, Derrick Thompson and Matthew Gill finished first in the 4x800 relay for Prescott.

Bobby Cooks took gold in the 100 meters for Pleasant Grove. Cooks was part of the first place 4x100 team along with Chauncey Martin, Josh Roberts, and Connor Keener.

Tyler Allen, Xavier Benson, Cameron Wells, and Linton Colvin crossed the line first in the 4x400 for the Hawks.

First place finishers for Trinity Christian’s boys were Jakob Martin (1600 meters) and Adam Bruce (800 meters).
