Online giving event Thursday allows your dollars to go further

Community members looking to donate to local nonprofits can make their dollars stretch further Thursday during ArkansasGi­ves.

ArkansasGi­ves is a 12-hour online giving event from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during which participan­ts can donate to a nonprofit of their choice. Each gift made will be matched with bonus dollars. The more donations a charity receives, the more bonus dollars it will receive.

Additional cash prizes also will be provided to the nonprofit organizati­ons that raise the most money and recruit the most individual donors.

The minimum donation amount is $25.

ArkansasGi­ves is a project of the Arkansas Community Foundation, a nonprofit organizati­on that promotes giving to improve communitie­s.

Eligible nonprofits serving Miller County, according to the ArkansasGi­ves website, include:

Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Arkansas Inc.

Arkansas Single Parent Scholarshi­p Fund Inc.

Arkansas Symphony Orchestra

Domestic Violence
