Smith pitches THS to 6-0 win

Fourth-ranked Pleasant Grove falls to North Lamar, 4-1

GREENVILLE, Texas—Mabry Smith pitched a complete game shutout to lead Texas High over Greenville, 6-0, Friday as the Lady Tigers wrapped up the District 16-5A softball co-Championsh­ip with Mount Pleasant.

Mabry finished the night with 14 strikeouts from the circle.

Courtnee Cheek led the Lady Tigers at the plate, belting a solo home run in the third inning. Cheek went 3 for 4 at the plate, adding 2 RBI.

Ryann Williams was 2 for 2 and Kailtlyn Cross was 2 for 3 at the dish for Texas High.

Bailey Groom rounded out the Lady Tigers batters, going 2 for 4, adding an RBI on the night.

The Lady Tigers are 22-5 overall and 10-2 in district competitio­n.

Texas High and Mount Pleasant will

GREENVILLE, Texas—Chris Lyles was 3 for 4 with a triple and RBI, and Jakob Hearne doubled in the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the top of the seventh as Texas High edged Greenville in a District 16-5A baseball game.

Walker Davis scattered nine hits for the Tigers to earn the win, and Colby Adkins also had an RBI double. Davis

was 1 for 2 for Texas High (13-11, 5-5).

PARIS, Texas—Pleasant Grove, ranked No. 4, lost to North Lamar, 4-1, to hand the District 14-4A champion Hawks their first loss in league play.

Liberty-Eylau also lost, falling to Paris, 4-0, at Hub Hollis Field.

The Hawks are 8-1 in district play. North Lamar is second at 5-4, and Atlanta, Paris and Pittsburg are tied at 4-5 for third. L-E has a 2-7 record.

Pittsburg edged Atlanta, 2-1, Friday.
