Atlanta defeats Van, 6-4

With win, Lady Rabbs force decisive Game 3

GREENVILLE, Texas— Atlanta defeated Van in a Region II-4A bi-district softball clash at Greenville’s Lady Lion Field, 6-4, to force a Game 3 in the best-ofthree series.

Victoria Johnson smacked a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh, forcing a third game in the bestof-three series. That game 3 was just getting under way about 10:10 p.m. Friday. Atlanta had won the opener 5-4, Thursday.

The Lady Rabbs were led by Kaydee Kelly in the circle. Kelly struck out six, gave up nine hits and walked five in seven innings.

Gracie Smith scored Atlanta’s first run in the bottom of the second on a Kelly groundout to first base.

Van used small ball to break the contest open in the fifth inning. Katie Briggs and Rachel Mitchell, each bunted in runs for the Lady Vandals.

Cydnee Wood led Atlanta with two hits in three at-bats.

Bailey Briggs paced the Vandals, also going 2 for 3.

Van’s Bailey Daniels received the pitching win, giving up six hits and walking one in seven innings.

Atlanta left five runners on base, opposed to Van leaving 11.
