GOLF: Larry East and Drew Easterling carded a 65 score to win first place in the “A” flight in Idabel, Okla., 2-Shamble Best Ball tournament. The event is sanctioned by the Southwest Arkansas Seniors.

Second place in the “A” flight went to Dan Ritter and Don Moore with a 67, and Ronnie Ingram and William Turley were third with a 68.

Tom Coleman and Glenn Fricks teamed up to card a 75 and take top honors in the “B” flight, followed by runners-up James Deloach and Mack Thomas (76) and third-place finishers Jim Norman and L.W. Grigsby, who also had a 76 but lost by a scorecard playoff.

Bill Bolin and Eddie Hughes won the “C” flight with a 74, Ode Monroe and Ira Dillon were second with a 76 and Rob Hill and James Cottingham third with an 80.

A total of 66 players competed in the tournament. The next event will be a 2-Man Scramble on May 18 at New Haven Golf Club in Texarkana with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
