A&M plans course on job safety
The Office of Extended Education and Community Development at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will offer a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist program May 15-19 on the campus.
The COSS program is curriculum-based and designed to build a solid foundation in general industry and construction knowledge for both beginning and experienced safety professionals. The 40-hour course meets requirements outlined in the American National Standards Institute's Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training Standard.
OSHA-authorized trainers will teach the course, which is designed to equip workers with the core competencies needed to succeed in occupational safety and health.
“We are excited to offer the COSS program for our corporate partners in the region, as well as to individuals who are interested in learning more about occupational safety and health,” Shelley Caraway, director of Extended Education and Community Development at A&M-Texarkana stated in a press release. “Our goal is to deliver the professional preparation required for workplace advancement and success.”
