LINDEN—James Randle Russell, 64, of Douglassvi­lle passed away May 16, 2017. Mr. Russell was born September 4, 1952 in Sanger, CA to Carliss and Maxine Russell. He was a loving spouse and provided strength and stability to his entire family. Upon graduation from High School and a year of college he joined the US Navy in November 1971 and served 24 years. He earned his college Degree in Business Administra­tion. He was a machinist by trade and served abroad several US Naval Ships. His final Navy assignment was served abroad the USS Pearl Harbor as Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Russell’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendati­on Medal (Two Gold Stars), Navy and Marine Corps Achievemen­t Medal (One Gold Star), Combat Action Ribbon, Meritoriou­s Unit Commendati­on (One Bronze Star), Coast Guard Meritoriou­s Unit Commendati­on with Operation ‘O’, Battle Efficiency Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal (Five Bronze Stars), National Defense Service Medal (One Gold Star), Armed Force Expedition­ary Medal, Vietnam Services Medal (Three Bronze Stars), Humanitari­an Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (One Bronze Star), Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Navy Expert Rifleman Medal.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 25 years, Guyla Russell; fours sons and daughters-in-law, James Russell, Jr. and Elizabeth, Jason Russell and Anna, Jeremy Russell and Amy, Dennis Roberts and Elizabeth; two daughters and one sonin-law, Jennifer and Shane Williams, Ronda Walker; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tim and Wendy Russell, and Craig Russell; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nadine and Glenn Rigings, and Carla Roadcap; 14 grandchild­ren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Services will be 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Pinecrest Baptist Church with Bro. Bryan Baggett officiatin­g and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Burial will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home.
