BASEBALL Tryouts for the East Texas Broncos, an American Legion team based out of the New Boston area, will hold tryouts at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hooks High School’s Hornet Field. BASKETBALL Pleasant Grove will host the Hawk Nation basketball camp June 12-14. The camp is open to all area students. Grades 3-6 will practice from 9 a.m.-10:30, and grades 7-9 practice from 10:30 a.m.-noon. Participants will learn ball handling, shooting, defense and offense, and the cost is $70. Arkansas High will host a boys and girls basketball camps on June 6-8. Grades 2-6 practice from 9 a.m.-11:30. grades 7-12 girls only practice from 12:30-3. Brouchures can be picked up from the athletic office or at Arkansas High. Cost is $50 and early registration guarantees a free basketball. GOLF A golf tournament to support the Christopher Castleberry Memorial Foundation business scholarship will be held May 27 at DeGray Lake Golf Course. SOCCER Pleasant Grove High School will host a girls and boys soccer camp June 5-7. Incoming kindergarten-4th grades practice from 8:30 a.m.-10, and incoming 5th-9th grades practice from 10:30-noon. Lady Hawk head coach Andy Allen and Hawk head coach Drake Staggs will lead the camp. The camp will improve the fundamental skills of players and aid in the development of tactical skills. VOLLEYBALL Texas High will host two volleyball camps in July. A camp for incoming 8th and 9th graders will be July 24-25, and for incoming 5th-7th grades July 26-27. Both camps will be held at THS’ Tiger Center from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and registration fee is $25 with a June 15 deadline. All campers will receive pizza lunch and a camp T-shirt.
