William Carrel Porterfield
William “Carrel” Porterfield age 75 of Atlanta, Texas went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family.
Carrel was born June 9, 1941 in Douglassville, Texas. He was retired from Frito Lay; and a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta. He enjoyed spending time mowing the yard, tractors and was a picker before picking was cool but most of all he enjoyed helping others. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Stone; son, Mark Alan Porterfield; grandson, Tyler Dillon Porterfield; and foster father, J. L. Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Porterfield of Atlanta, Texas; foster mother, Dorothy Smith of Atlanta, Texas; three sons, Ray Porterfield of Atlanta, Texas, Mitch Williams and wife Michelle of Richardson, Texas, Marty Williams and wife Shannon of Wiley, Texas; daughter, Melynn Williams of Fredericksburg, Texas; a brother, James Stone of Queen City, Texas, two sisters, Brenda Porter of San Antonio, Texas, Neda Stewart of Queen City, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Brian Porterfield of Conway, Arkansas, Caleb Porterfield of Atlanta, Texas, Aaron Porterfield of Saginaw,Texas, Melanie Porterfield of Atlanta, Texas, Corbin Williams of Wiley, Texas, Lucy Williams of Dallas, Texas, Greta Williams of Wiley, Texas, Will Porterfield of Atlanta, Texas, Ian Williams of Richardson, Texas, Marsella Williams of Richardson, Texas; Olivia Williams of Wiley, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Porterfield of Conway, Arkansas, Claire Porterfield of Saginaw, Texas and Zane Porterfield of Conway, Arkansas; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Wes Mill and Bro. James Williams officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.
Interment will be in Laws Chapel Cemetery.
